ISG Expands Global Outreach with Educational Initiatives in Namibia

In the first quarter of 2025, the Institute for Sport Governance (ISG) intensified its activities beyond Europe by participating in two key educational events in Namibia. These gatherings brought together representatives of sport administration, educators, and leaders across various disciplines. This marks another step in ISG’s mission to globalize the principles of good governance and strategic leadership in sport.
February 2025 | Windhoek: High Performance Thinking for Sport and Organizational Development
From 24 to 28 February 2025, ISG took part in the prestigious Sports Development Ecosystem Training Short Course (SDETSC), organized by Barakitso Sports Management and the Ministry of Sport, Youth and National Services of Namibia.
As part of the official program, on 26 February, Grzegorz Botwina, PhD, President of ISG, delivered a keynote lecture titled “High Performance Thinking Required to Develop Sports, Athletes and Organizations.” The session focused on mental strategies that support the growth of athletes and the building of high-performing sports organizations. Attendees included ministry officials, regional sports officers, and key leaders from Namibia’s national sports ecosystem.
During the same session, Grzegorz also presented:
- Good Governance and Social Responsibility in Sport – addressing transparency, ethics, and social responsibility,
- Creation of the Converged Code of Good Governance – exploring the implementation of unified governance standards within sports organizations.
March 2025 | Windhoek: Leadership Development Strategies in School Sport
The next stop on ISG’s African engagement journey was an event held in March 2025, dedicated to leaders in school sport. Grzegorz Botwina led a specialized training session titled “Strategies for School Sports Development Leadership and Governance,” tailored to 30 physical education teachers representing 11 sports disciplines, including volleyball, football, rugby, hockey, tennis, and netball.
The training focused on building strong leadership structures within school sport, integrating sport into educational curricula, and the role of schools as foundational entities for the development of local sports systems.
ISG in Africa – A Strategy for Global Collaboration
Both events demonstrated how Polish expertise can support the sustainable development of sport across continents. ISG continues to strengthen its position as a partner not only for European, but also for international reforms in leadership and good governance in sport.
Through active involvement in programs such as ACTION and ACTION+, the organization transfers best practices into new cultural and institutional contexts—enhancing leadership capacities and professionalizing the sports sector on a global scale.
