March 2025 at ISG – Monthly Highlights

ISG 01 April 2025
March 2025 at ISG

As every month, we invite you to read our summary of the key activities and project initiatives undertaken by our team in recent weeks!

ISG Strengthens Leadership and Good Governance in Namibian School and Professional Sports

In February and March 2025, the Institute for Sport Governance (ISG) took part in two significant educational events held in Windhoek, Namibia. During the Sports Development Ecosystem Training Short Course, Grzegorz Botwina, PhD presented strategies for the development of sports organizations and athletes based on the High Performance Thinking concept, along with the principles of good governance and a joint ethical code for sports institutions.

In the following month, ISG contributed to a specialist training session for 30 school teachers representing various sports disciplines across primary and secondary schools. The presentation titled Strategies for School Sports Development Leadership and Governance” focused on building leadership and governance competencies in school sports, aiming to enhance the role of education in shaping local sports structures.

Both events are part of ISG’s international strategy aimed at global knowledge transfer and supporting reforms in the sports sector. Our work in Namibia marks another example of how we apply insights from projects such as ACTION+ to professionalize sports governance beyond Europe.

ISG 2024 Annual Report

Accountability and transparency are essential for any organization. That’s why, for the second year in a row, we’ve prepared an annual report summarizing our work in 2024.

If you haven’t had a chance to read it yet, you can access it here.

Training for Sport and the Environment

On March 10, we held the training session “Education, Sport and Ecology in Natura 2000 Areas” as part of the ECOS N2K project.

During the webinar, participants learned how to protect nature while engaging in physical activity, how sport can support sustainable development, and how to encourage youth and local communities to become more active.

We’re proud that the projects we participate in can meaningfully contribute not only to environmental protection but also to increasing physical activity.

Present at Poland’s Premier Sport-Business Event

The 9th edition of the Sport Biznes Polska Congress brought together over 1,000 professionals from across the sports sector, including our team members from ISG.

We took part in engaging discussions and debates on topics that are especially important to us, such as dual-career paths for athletes, the growing role of women in Polish sport, and the CSR requirements from a sponsor’s perspective.

Seeing these themes at the center of major events is a promising sign for the future. We hope such discussions will continue to gain visibility!
