ISG Report 2025

We are pleased to announce the publication of the Institute for Sport Governance 2025 Report, summarizing our organization’s activities over the past year. The document is not only a review of the initiatives we have implemented, but also a moment of reflection on the future direction of ISG and the role we aim to play within the Polish and European sports systems.

2025 as a Transitional and Strategic Year

For ISG, 2025 was a period of natural transition resulting from the lifecycle of international projects. Many initiatives launched in previous years came to completion, creating space to summarize outcomes, assess impact, and consolidate the results achieved.

This period allowed us to:

  • analyze our previous project experiences,
  • begin work on a long-term organizational development strategy,
  • strengthen our institutional and team capacity,
  • define new directions for international cooperation beyond the European context.

It was a year of lower operational intensity, but greater focus on quality, sustainability of results, and preparing the organization for its next stage of development.

Key Areas of Activity in 2025

Good Governance and Transparency

We continued implementing good governance principles in sport through projects such as ACTION+, Sport Transparency Index, and Open Data for Sport Governance (OD4SG 2.0).

We further developed self-assessment tools, benchmarking support systems, and mechanisms enabling sports organizations to make data-driven decisions. Our goal remains translating good governance standards into practical, operational solutions.

CSR and ESG in Professional Sport

In 2025, we published new editions of our reports assessing the level of social responsibility among professional football clubs:

The analyses covered more than 120 indicators and, for the first time, included a financial responsibility component. The average club scores reached their highest level since the study began, confirming the sector’s growing maturity.

Athletes’ Social Protection and Leadership Development

Within the SOPROS project, we conducted research on social protection systems for Olympic athletes across Europe. The report identified significant inequalities and systemic gaps in athletes’ socio-economic security.

At the same time, through the Olympic Committees Leadership Programme, we supported the development of future sports leaders by combining good governance principles with preparation for athletes’ post-sport careers.

Equality, Education, and Sustainability

We implemented projects strengthening the quality and responsibility of sport in a broader social dimension:

  • FEMcoach – supporting the development of women coaches and promoting gender equality,
  • ALLSTARS – analyzing the role of local sports policies in combating social exclusion,
  • ECOS N2K – combining sport, education, and environmental protection in Natura 2000 areas.

As part of these initiatives, we conducted research, webinars, expert workshops, and educational activities addressed to coaches, teachers, local authorities, and sports organizations.

Youth and Solidarity

An important element of our activities was the development of the Youth for Sport and Society Leadership Programme, implemented within the framework of the European Solidarity Corps.

We supported young leaders in initiating projects with positive social impact by providing mentoring, substantive support, and networking opportunities. As an organization holding the European Solidarity Corps Quality Label, we continued strengthening youth civic engagement through sport.

ISG as an Expert Platform for Dialogue on the Future of Sport

In 2025, ISG experts participated in key European and national events, including the EU Sport Forum, Erasmus+ Sport Info Day, ministerial conferences, and major industry congresses.

Our presence in these forums enables us to have a real impact on discussions concerning the future direction of sports policy development, particularly in the areas of good governance, social responsibility, and sector professionalization.

Our Mission Remains Unchanged

The Institute for Sport Governance works toward a model of sport based on transparency, accountability, and professional management.

We believe sport can and should play a positive social role — provided it is built on sound organizational structures, ethical standards, and long-term strategic thinking.

The ISG 2025 Report marks the starting point for the next stage of our development.
