ISG x Widzew Łódź Conference: Responsibility and Good Governance in Sport
On 28 September 2026, a conference jointly organised by the Institute for Sport Governance and Widzew Łódź will take place at Widzew Łódź Stadium. The event will bring together representatives of sports clubs and organisations, participants of the CSR Academy in Sport, students, and partners of the international GGCS project.
The main focus of the event will be responsibility and good governance in sports organisations. The programme has been designed to combine participants’ knowledge and experience with practical work on the challenges that clubs and other sports organisations face in their day-to-day operations.
One of the key elements of the event will be a workshop dedicated to good governance in sports organisations. Participants will conduct a self-assessment of the organisations they represent, consider the importance of individual good governance indicators, and then work together to identify the most important challenges, priorities, and possible actions for improvement.
Another important element of the workshop will be the exchange of experiences and good practices. Participants will work in mixed groups, allowing solutions already implemented in one organisation to serve as a starting point for discussion and a source of inspiration for others.
The conference programme will also include presentations on CSR and ESG in sport, while the workshop session will be followed by opportunities for further exchange of experiences and networking. A tour of Widzew Łódź Stadium and a dedicated meeting for students interested in sport management are also planned.
The event will also provide another opportunity for participants of the CSR Academy in Sport, organised by ISG, to meet in person. Priority access to the conference has been given to those involved in the Academy, allowing them to further develop the knowledge gained during previous sessions through direct exchange of experiences and practical workshop activities.
The conference will take place on 28 September 2026, from 10:00 to 17:30, at Widzew Łódź Stadium.
The event is organised as part of the cooperation between the Institute for Sport Governance and Widzew Łódź, as well as activities carried out within the international GGCS project, which aims to support sports organisations in developing good governance standards and translating them into practical actions.
Representatives of Sportlyanz, a partner in the GGCS project, will also take part in the conference. During the event, they will present the project and the tool developed within its framework to support sports organisations in assessing and improving their good governance practices. The tool will also serve as a starting point for participants’ practical work during the workshop.
