About the ALLSTARS Project

ALLSTARS (Good Practice for Active Lifestyles in Local Sports Policies) is an international project focused on improving the integration of marginalized groups into sports participation and governance. Funded under the Erasmus+ program, the project aims to identify and analyze successful initiatives at the local level that promote inclusion, social integration, and sustainable collaboration beyond the core of active citizens.

The project responds to long-term societal shifts, changing priorities in sports policy, and the impact of recent events like COVID-19, which has exacerbated inequalities in sports participation. ALLSTARS explores how local sports governance can effectively engage disadvantaged communities, ensuring access to active lifestyles for all.

Project Objectives

  • Identify and analyze successful local sports initiatives – examine policies and programs that effectively integrate marginalized groups.
  • Promote inclusive sports governance – explore actor networks and decision-making processes in local sports policies.
  • Document and share good practices – develop guidelines for sustainable cooperation between stakeholders in sports governance.
  • Enhance policy impact through knowledge-sharing – provide tools and insights for municipalities and organizations to improve local sports strategies.

Expected Outcomes and Long-Term Impact

  • Improved participation of underrepresented groups – increased engagement of economically disadvantaged individuals, migrants, women, and older adults in sports.
  • Stronger local sports governance – better cooperation among municipalities, sports organizations, and grassroots initiatives.
  • Creation of an online platform for good practices – a resource hub documenting successful approaches to inclusive sports policy.
  • Policy recommendations and academic research – insights for policymakers, researchers, and practitioners to improve sports accessibility and integration.
