On Saturday, the final event summarizing the training cycle of the Youth for Sport and Society Leadership Programme took place. The initiative, implemented under the European Solidarity Corps in the Mazowieckie region, aimed to develop young leaders and promote sport as a tool for social inclusion.

The Institute for Sport Governance acted as a supporting organization, providing substantive guidance, organizational support, and access to knowledge and professional networks.

Training Programme – From Knowledge to Action

The final event marked the culmination of a multi-week training programme, during which participants developed competencies necessary to design and implement sports initiatives addressing the needs of local communities.

The programme covered topics such as community diagnosis, project planning, partnership building, communication, and the organization of sports events.

Learning from Practice

The event began with presentations by invited practitioners – Bernard Robak, Rafał Warchoł, and Maja Gasik – who shared their experience at the intersection of sport, business, and social activity.

The event took place at the Polonia Warsaw stadium, providing a unique setting for the entire meeting. Thanks to the club’s hospitality, participants also had the opportunity to go behind the scenes of a sports organization and tour the stadium, gaining insight into its daily operations.

This perspective allowed participants to see sport not only as a form of physical activity but also as an effective tool for building relationships, engaging communities, and creating meaningful initiatives.

Projects with Real Impact

One of the key moments of the event was the presentation of projects developed by the programme participants. In total, 11 social-sport initiatives were presented, all sharing a common goal: creating a real impact on local communities.

These initiatives addressed the needs of various groups, including those with fewer opportunities, and demonstrated the growing social awareness of young leaders.

Learning by Doing

An important part of the event was a workshop session based on a simulation of organizing a local sports event.

Participants took on the roles of different stakeholders and were required to develop joint solutions in situations involving conflicting interests and limited resources. This exercise allowed them to practically develop communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills.

Summary and Next Steps

The event concluded with a summary of the entire programme and the awarding of certificates to participants, recognizing their work, commitment, and development over the past months.

From the perspective of the Institute for Sport Governance, it is particularly important to observe how young people are increasingly using sport as a tool for social change in a conscious and responsible way.

The Youth for Sport and Society Leadership Programme is an example of an initiative that not only builds competencies but also fosters responsible leadership and strengthens local communities. All indications suggest that the programme’s impact will continue long after its formal conclusion.
