FEMCoach – Gender Equality and Healthy Youth Sport
About the FEMCoach Project
FEMCoach is an international project funded under the Erasmus+ program (ERASMUS-SPORT-2023) that focuses on developing the competencies of female youth sports coaches. Its main goal is to promote gender equality in coaching and create a healthy sports environment for young athletes.
Implemented by partners from various European countries, FEMCoach combines research and educational activities. Based on scientific evidence and an analysis of female coaches’ needs, the project develops and delivers online and in-person training courses to empower female coaches and enhance their impact on youth sports.
Project Objectives
FEMCoach is centered around four key objectives:
- Understanding the needs of female youth sports coaches – reviewing existing coaching education programs and identifying the main challenges faced by women in the coaching profession.
- Enhancing coaching competencies – organizing webinars, workshops, and MOOC courses tailored to the biological, psychological, and social needs of young athletes.
- Building a community of practice – creating a platform for networking and knowledge exchange among female coaches through seminars and engagement initiatives.
- Raising awareness among stakeholders – involving policymakers, sports organizations, and local communities in promoting a healthy and gender-equal sports environment.
Expected Outcomes and Long-Term Impact
FEMCoach aims to:
- Improve access to education and professional development for female coaches – at least 100 coaches will benefit from FEMCoach training materials.
