ISG 27 January 2025
Sport Transparency Index - 5th project meeting

On January 22nd, the 5th partner meeting of the Sport Transparency Index Project took place, bringing together international stakeholders committed to fostering transparency and good governance in sports. Funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, this innovative initiative aims to establish universal criteria for evaluating and benchmarking the transparency of sport stakeholders, including clubs, leagues, and governing bodies.

The Institute for Sport Governance (ISG) was proudly represented by Mateusz Boczyło, who participated remotely. Discussions during the meeting focused on key project milestones, particularly the progress of Work Package 3 (Training Program), which ISG leads. A significant achievement under this work package is the creation of the Digital Training Package for the Promotion of Sport Transparency and Good Governance. This tool will form the backbone of future training activities, empowering stakeholders to embrace higher standards of transparency.

Key Outcomes and Future Plans

  1. Pilot Implementation:
Preparations are underway to test the Sport Transparency Index in real-world scenarios, enabling stakeholders to evaluate and refine their transparency practices effectively.
  2. Final Event in Brussels:
The consortium also discussed plans for the project’s culminating event, scheduled for June 2025 in Brussels. This event will showcase the project’s results and celebrate the collective efforts to promote transparency across the sports ecosystem.
  3. Building Capacity:
Through education, training, and policy recommendations, the project continues to equip sports organizations with the tools needed to enhance transparency and accountability.
