The First Strategic Workshops of the Institute for Sport Governance
In November 2025, we launched the process of developing a five-year growth strategy for the Institute for Sport Governance, which will define the directions of the think tank’s activities in the years to come. The first strategic workshops marked the formal beginning of a multi-stage planning process, which will culminate in the adoption of the final strategy in March 2026. These activities are carried out thanks to the support of the National Institute of Freedom – Centre for Civil Society Development, under the Government Programme for the Development of Civic Organisations (PROO), enabling ISG to strengthen its organisational stability and engage in long-term development planning.
The Beginning of the Strategic Process
The first strategic meeting had an introductory and diagnostic character. Its objective was to take a comprehensive look at ISG in its current form – identifying key areas of activity, past experiences, as well as the challenges and opportunities facing the organisation. Members of the ISG team presented the organisation’s ongoing activities, which made it possible to jointly define the starting point for further strategic work.
The workshops also provided an opportunity to reflect on ISG’s position within the international ecosystem of organisations focused on good governance in sport and to preliminarily outline the organisation’s development ambitions for the coming years.
Directions for Further Work
The strategy development process will include several working meetings, during which the organisation’s goals, priority areas of activity, and potential development pathways will be gradually refined. Subsequent stages will involve, among others, an in-depth analysis of ISG’s operations, consultations with partners, and internal discussions with team members.
Strategy as the Foundation of ISG’s Development
Work on the strategy aims to further professionalise ISG’s activities and create solid foundations for long-term planning. The strategic document is intended to support the continued development of the think tank as an independent expert centre, actively working to promote good governance in sport, international cooperation, and the education of future sports leaders.
The first strategic workshops represent an important step towards building a stable, consciously developing organisation that effectively responds to the challenges of contemporary sport.
